I've officiated more than 7,000 weddings. I've stood close enough to brides, grandmothers, and everyone in between to notice things most people don't. Skin included.

So when Besque sent me their Magic Body Oil and Luxury Shower Oil to try, I wasn't expecting much. I've tried a lot of oils over the years. Most of them smell nice for about ten minutes and do nothing else.

What I actually noticed


I'm going to be specific here, because vague praise is worthless and I know it when I read it. As a certified sommelier, precision is basically my whole personality. 

So here's precision. The Magic Body Oil isn't greasy. It absorbs fast, with no residue on my body and no oily film on my hands ten minutes later. That matters more than people realize once you're past fifty and your skin doesn't bounce back the way it used to. The texture change is the real story. My skin has genuinely felt firmer, not "maybe I'm imagining it" firmer, actually firmer, in a way I noticed within a couple weeks of consistent use. I'm not going to pretend I ran a clinical trial in my bathroom. 

I'm telling you what I felt, on my own skin, as a grandmother who has earned every one of these years and still wants to feel good in it. The shower oil is the easier habit to build. 

You use it in place of your regular body wash, and it turns a two-minute shower into something that actually feels like self-care instead of a chore you rush through before your day starts.

Why this matters more as we age

Nobody tells you that your skin barrier changes as you get older. It gets thinner, drier, and slower to repair itself. Most drugstore lotions are formulated for skin that isn't dealing with any of that. They sit on top instead of actually nourishing.

I'm not a dermatologist, and I'm not going to make claims Besque's marketing team should be making, not me. What I can tell you is what a sommelier would tell you about a wine that's aged well. It's not about hiding what time did. It's about caring for something so it holds its structure and still has depth.

That's what this felt like for my skin.
